Just got back from the movie AAJA NACHLE and whoever said Madhuri failed at the Box Office and also various gyans about how heroines after 40, after marriage, after kids, etc., etc., don't sell - may be for perverts yes and may be for male chauvenists yes but not for mature, responsible and intelligents fans like me!!!!
AAJA NACHLE - inspires you to dance and the movie has lots of messages - makes you look within for search of values like faith, friendship, master-disciple relationship, revival of art, true love, etc., etc., and the corporates who made Chak De India a big hit by blocking seats for their employees will take this movie seriously (forgetting for a second Madhuri is old, married, has kids, etc.,) WHY?
1. ART FORM : learning, respecting gurus, being sincere to the art that one learns, wanting to give back to the art - it beautifully portrays the relationship, respect and reverence and love between the GURU SHISHYA : very rare phenomena these days - how many learn any form of dance so sincerely these days, even if they do, how many continue practising what they learn, and even if some do, how many continue (esp. women) after they are married, have had children, have been divorced, etc., : Madhuri's come back to the films after a long absence is quite apt and one can understand why she chose to do the film. Beautiful Dance-Drama : isn't it a dying art these days? Madhuri has done a wonderful job - she is DIVINE - worth seeing the movie for her DANCE sake and she is the DANCING DIVA of INDIA
2. LOVE : leaving aside the classic story of Laila and Majnu, picking up the message from ordinary mortals - beautifully portrays that a jilted lover need not become a Devdas, and just because the person you love does not love you in return, does not mean you stop loving (how many do that these days?), many many beautiful portrayals of love - See it to imbibe it
3. FRIENDSHIP : Again betrayal. misunderstanding but at the end of it all it survives - true friendship never fails
4. SETS : Rumours galore about OM SHANTHI OM sets costed 80 lakhs and they burnt it for realism because of the fire scene - let the gang see this movie for learning - beautiful sets unlike OSO which was very gawdy and luxurious and grandeur need not be the key words for creating beautiful sets - elegant, ethnic and variety
On the whole the movie was very refreshing and this is to educate the readers who are fooled by the media time and again about a Movie's success or failure - If media says the movie has failed watch it. They raved about OSO, Saawariya and people or should i say fans (I am talking about mature, intelligent ones) would agree that they never lived up to their expectations and the critics and the media did a run down for AAJA NACHLE and if I had believed them I would have missed a wonderful movie...... IT IS AN EXECELLENT MOVIE believe me and go and watch it and enjoy and make it a success as we are responsible for a movie's success or a failure and it would be quite sad if we make this movie as a failure in the history of cinema
